April 25: Megan Thee Stallion took to IG Stories to announce Klay Thompson had cheated on her, and, better yet, that he didn’t know if he could be “monogamous.” The group chats — and the internet — were very:
“Homicidal”
“We can’t have anything”
“free her fr jfc”
April 27: The New York Times dropped a list of the “30 Greatest Living American Songwriters.” I’m skeptical of this list (no Joan Baez?? No Future??) but after all, I’m no music journalist.
April 27: The Cut covered “the great numbing out” — how even the politically engaged “are in a state of paralysis” during this second Trump administration. According to psychiatrists, this is perfectly natural, which does make me feel at least a little bit better.
April 29: Cake Zine’s savory special edition, Steak Zine, was covered in NYT Style. The launch party was held at the Lower East Side steak house, Funny Bar.
April 30: Rachel Seville Tashjian has a new fashion newsletter at CNN, where she’s been a Senior Reporter since November. When Emily Sundberg asked her why we need another fashion newsletter, she replied: “We never ask these questions about SPORTS or MEDIA! What are we afraid of?”
May 1: Puck published another ShopMy report, this time on beauty products and devices. I’m pretty obsessed with these as a quick metric for seeing what women are buying online. Puck recently did a dinner with ShopMy, which makes me wonder about potential commerce integrations between the two brands.
May 1: The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially out. Full disclosure, I still haven’t seen it (I’m going Tuesday) so no spoilers please! I did enjoy Vogue’s The Run-Through interview with the real woman who inspired Emily though.
May 2: Promoting her new album and appearance on SNL, Olivia Rodrigo wore Betsey Johnson SS 2014 on The Tonight Show. The grunge-meets-girlishness of the brand does seem to particularly suit her aesthetic. Is the brand due for a revival?
